The past few weeks have been spent finishing up review before starting on Unit 1 of Realidades. Your students received a Realidades text book, which we have been using for supplemental activities and vocabulary.
At this point in the year they have a basic understanding of how to greet people at different times of the day, to introduce themselves, to respond to classroom directions, numbers, telling time and weather conditions and identifying parts of the body. We have also practiced spelling with the Spanish alphabet. We just begun working with the verb gustar. Here is some of the key vocabulary for Unit 1:
gustar - to be pleasing
me gusta ______ - I like ______
te gusta _____ - You like ____
bailar- to dance
escuchar musica- to listen to music
practicar deportes- to practice sports
correr- to run
nadar- to swim
esquiar- to ski
escribir cuentos- to write stories
dibujar- to draw
montar en ___ - to ride ____
cantar- to sing
ver la tele- to watch T.V.
jugar videojuegos- to play video games
usar la computadora- to use the computer
A fun activity that we did a few weeks ago was to draw crazy monsters. The students started with their own paper and then, with each new instruction, passed their paper to their classmate on the right. This way each round a student was drawing on a new person's paper...making the monster look even crazier!
