This week we began the family unit. Students will be working toward the ability to present their family tree to the class. In a few weeks they will describe select family members (physical description and likes/dislikes)! We will also be studying the Quinceañera. Some of the key vocabulary for this unit is:

Spanish 1B Unit 5- Theme Project
Overview:
You will create a three-generation family tree on either poster board or Google Slides featuring photos of family members and brief descriptions under each photo. Then you will present the poster to the class, explaining (in Spanish) the relationships on the tree and describing selected family members. If you choose to use Google slides, please share it with Ms. Ellis at [email protected]
*you can also invent a family other than your own if you would like.
Materials:
Google slides OR poster board, markers, photos, glue, scissors
Sequence:
Step 1. Review the instructions with your teacher.
Step 2. Submit a rough sketch of your tree. Incorporate your teacher’s suggestions into your sketch. Work with a partner and present your sketched to each other. (DUE Oct. 22nd in class)
Step 3. Create a layout on poster board (or in Google slide), leaving room for photos and descriptions.
Step 4. Submit a draft of the personal descriptions. (DUE Oct. 28th in class)
Step 5. Present your final poster to the class, explaining the relationships and giving descriptions of family members. Please bring this piece of paper & the rubric with you to class for your presentation. (DUE Nov. 5th in class)
Assessment:
Your teacher will use the rubric on the following page to assess this project.
