Hola Parents!
These first few lessons we have been practicing greetings and listening to "Los pollitos dicen". You can see the vocabulary that we've been working on below. Try to use it with your child several times over the next couple of weeks- this will help them learn more quickly. Remember, don’t expect them to be able to use this Spanish perfectly, it may take them months before they can use even simple Spanish phrases. :) Have fun with Spanish and encourage your child!
Hola - Hello
Buenos días - Good Morning
Buenas tardes - Good Afternoon
Buenas noches - good night
¿Cómo estás? - How are you?
Estoy muy bien - I am well
Gracias - Thank you
Yo me llamo _____ My name is___
¿Cómo te llamas? What’s your name?
Azul-blue
Rojo-red
Verde-green
Amarillo-yellow
Numbers 1-20 (uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis, siete, ocho, nueve, diez, once, doce, trece, catorce, quince, diez y seis, diez y siete, diez y ocho, diez y nueve, veinte)
este es/esta es- this is
un muchacho- a boy
una muchacha- a girl
Here are some suggested activities for home:
Ask your student: ¿Cómo te llamas? Let them answer Me llamo ____. Ask them- Cómo estás? Two thumbs up means muy bien (really good) and two thumbs down means muy mal (very bad). Have them do some simple math with the numbers above. (mas= more, menos = minus).
Ask your child if they can sing any of the song "Los pollitos dicen" and show you any of the hand
motions, over the next month they will be able to do some or all of it. Can they translate the lyrics for you?
